NSW man held over plan to join IS in Syria

A man has been arrested at Sydney Airport, suspected of intending to travel to Syria.

 

 

 

New South Wales Police confirmed they arrested the 22 year-old, but that he has not been charged yet.

 

 

 

They say authorities have been monitoring the man for the past five months.

 

 

 

He had not purchased a plane ticket at the time of his arrest.

 

 

Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, a day to recognise and act on the signs of elder financial abuse.

 

Maurice Blackburn Wills Principal, Andrew Simpson, says usually the financial abuse of the elderly is found in the power of attorney or the force of a will change.

 

He says it's difficiult to identify and prevent the abuse.
