Trains collide in southern Germany

At least two people have died after a passenger and a freight train collided in Bavaria in southern Germany.

At least two people have died and a number of others have been injured in a collision between a freight train and a passenger train in Bavaria in southern Germany.

The two trains crashed into each other around 9.20pm (local time) on Monday on a single stretch of track near Aichach station on the route between Ingolstadt and Augsburg, a German rail official says.

The cause of the accident is not yet known and rescue crews are on the scene.
