Turnbull government tries to obtain support for its company tax cuts

The Turnbull government is still trying to obtain support from Senate crossbenchers for its company tax cuts.

The government wants legislation cutting the corporate tax rate from 30 per cent to 25 per cent to be passed this week, the final parliamentary sitting before the May budget.

 

Independent senators Derryn Hinch and Tim Storer are still refusing to sign on.

 

But Finance Minister Mathias Cormann says the cuts are important.
