Two women are now dead following a balcony collapse at a Melbourne property.

It is believed more than 30 people were on the balcony at a house in Doncaster East when it collapsed on Saturday night.

A 59-year-old Croydon woman died at the scene while another aged 37 died in hospital on Sunday morning.

A further 10 women and seven men, ranging in age from 20 to 69, sustained soft tissue injuries, fractures and lacerations, said Paul Holman, Ambulance Victoria's state health commander.
