THE wet conditions drenching parts of the East Coast aren’t over yet, with emergency services warning the worst could be yet to come in some areas.

Residents of the NSW north and mid north coasts regions have been warned to prepare for potential flooding as heavy rain shows no sign of easing up.

Downpours are expected in Sydney and Brisbane for much of the week but other capitals should escape the worst of the wet.

On Monday, the Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning for heavy rainfall along the northern NSW and far southern Queensland coasts for the next 48 hours.
