The federal government is warning the forthcoming bushfire season will be tough.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Assistant Home Affairs minister Linda Reynolds have visited with volunteer firefighters in Queanbeyan, near the New South Wales border with the A-C-T.
Ms Reynolds says the season will be tough not just on volunteers, but also their families, whom they spend time away from, and employers, who may have to see them miss work as a result of their volunteering.
The government is encouraging people to volunteer, or help volunteers, if they can.
Ms Reynolds says she is focusing on making sure the federal government and state and territory governments are able to work with each other to help people in times of bushfire.
