For $600,000 you can buy a four-bedroom home in Kingsbury — half-an-hour's drive from the CBD or an hour on the tram. Brisbane Median weekly income per household: $1,388 Average house price: $497,000 in June of this year, 4.3 per cent higher than the year before. Ten years ago the average price tag was $325,000. For $600,000 you can buy a five-bedroom home in Tingalpa, which is a 30 minute drive from the CBD or 40 minutes by bus. Perth Median weekly income per household: $1,459 (2011 according to Census figures, but the ABS shows unemployment in Western Australia has increased since then) Average house price: $523,000 in June of this year, 4.8 per cent lower than the year before. Ten years ago the average price tag still lower at $370,000. For $600,000 you can buy a three-bedroom house in East Perth, which is an eight minute drive from the city centre or four minutes by bus.
