World powers have announced a cessation of hostilities in Syria at a meeting in the German city of Munich.

US Secretary of State, John Kerry, and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov are hosting the discussions of the 17 member International Syria Support Group on the sidelines of the Munich Security conference. Russia had suggested a ceasefire to begin on the 1st of March, but the US had wanted a ceasefire to begin immediately. US Secretary of State, John Kerry, made the announcement at a news conference.
