Would the death penalty stop the crime?

Pope Francis has changed the Catholic Church’s teaching on the death penalty, concluding that it is always wrong as it “attacks” human dignity. Capital punishment or execution was cancelled in Australia in 1973 but still stands in more than fifty other countries.
