Education department had to close down or suspend 119 Family day cares in NSW because of various cases, including lack of staff, incompletion of criminal records and failing to meet first aid measures.

The forced closure of family day cares follows federal government campaign to detect providers who take advantage of taxpayers' money to care for one another's children.
As the state government targets family day care centers, which are often based in the providers home, Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is considering a decision to merge the largest Outside School Hours Care providers.
