Julie Bishop has hit back at a call for her to be sacked as Foreign Minister for her handling of Australia's relationship with China.

Former Australian ambassador to China Geoff Raby [[JEFF RAY-bee]] was quoted by Fairax Media saying Ms Bishop has angered China -- particularly with her comments on China's ability to lead, and on the issue of sovereignty in the South China Sea.

He says Ms Bishop needs to be replaced by someone better equipped for the demands of the job.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has rejected the suggestion.

Speaking to the ABC, Ms Bishop says Australia is honest in its dealings with China, and she'll be meeting with her Chinese counterpart again soon.
