New research shows less than a third of Australians know how to support a person living with autism.

It comes after a video of an attack on a boy living with autism in Melbourne surfaced last week, making headlines around Australia.

The study also found more than half of those living with autism surveyed feel socially isolated.

Forty two per cent of that group said they sometimes feel unable to leave the house because they are worried people will behave negatively towards them.

Dr Hatem Abouelenein explains about Autism and we can help.
