North Melbourne is celebrating the latest local talent and the diverse cultural of its performers on 1 July from 12 noon to 4:30 pm at Plenty Ranges Arts & Convention Center, South Morang.

Emerge in the North 2017 Festival, which is presented by the Multicultural Arts Victoria and many other organisations, is a new community event features talents of local musicians, dancers and other artists to celebrate their cultural identity in the heart of north Melbourne.

The festival program includes many local showes that have not been shown elsewhere, including a Sudanese dance from Nuba Mountains, a Syrian youth marching band.

The Nuba Moro group has performed in Australia for four years.

They aim to preserve the culture and history of their civilization, which come from the Nuba Mountains of north Kordofan and pass it to the younger generation and to perform it to the wider Australian community.
