Residents in South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria are being warned to prepare for heatwave conditions starting from today and continuing into the weekend. The mercury is tipped to hit 41 degrees (Celsius) in Adelaide and go into the mid-40s in some regional centres in South Australia, while total fire bans and severe warnings have been declared for large parts of Victoria. Severe fire danger warnings have been issued for several regions of New South Wales, including Sydney. Jonathan How from the Bureau of Meteorology says no temperature records are expected to be broken, but the weather will still be incredibly hot.
