Medicare is Australia’s universal health insurance, yet over half of all Australians have private health insurance. With a private health cover, you won’t have to endure long wait times for elective surgery, and you may also be covered for things like dental procedures, prescription glasses etc. While there are tax incentives as well to encourage the uptake of private health insurance, there are high out of pocket costs involved with its use.
