What’s a taxonomist and why are they calling for funding?

Australia is famous for its wide array of plant and animal species, with tourists from around the world visiting specifically to see the koalas or the kangaroos. Yet, only around 30 per cent of Australian species are believed to have been discovered at this point, and, now, the scientists behind identifying those species are becoming endangered themselves.
