We are continuing our series celebrating the 50th anniversary of SBS Armenian. Today, we focus on Prof. Vahakn Dadrian.
Professor Vahakn N. Dadrian (1926–2019) was a pioneering Armenian-American sociologist and historian best known for his groundbreaking research on the Armenian Genocide.
Dadrian devoted his academic career to documenting and analyzing the causes, execution, and consequences of the Armenian Genocide, emphasizing the role of the Ottoman government and the importance of archival evidence. He served as a professor of sociology and directed genocide research programs, contributing extensively to scholarly literature and public discourse. His meticulous use of Ottoman, German, and Austrian archival sources significantly shaped modern genocide studies.
