Assyrian community in Melbourne worked hard to get the approval from Hume City Council to name 7 new streets with historical Assyrian names. The Assyrian Church of the East recently acquired seven acres land to be utilised to build Primary school.

Councillor Joseph Haweil is an active member of the Assyrian community in Melbourne. He is a member of Hume City Council. He told SBS about the council's approval of naming seven new streets by Assyrian names. Also he talked about the recent purchase of the Assyrian Church of the East in Victoria of a seven acres land, for the purpose of building Assyrian Primary School.
