Getting help for victims of domestic violence

Domestic violence is a serious problem which impacts many NSW families. In 2016, an estimated 17 per cent of Australian women aged 18 years and over (or 1.6 million women) had experienced violence by a partner since the age of 15 years (ABS Personal Safety Survey 2017).

Solicitor Oliver Sliwa is a policy officer in domestic violence for the NSW department of Communities and Justice.

He talks about types of domestic violence that people face on daily basis. He Says domestic and family violence happens to partners and also members of one family. 

Mr Sliwa affirms that the Premier of NSW has priority to reduce domestic violence reoffenders. There are many hotlines and help available for all victims of domestic and family violence.
