Over 1 million Australians delaying doctor visits over costs

New research has revealed over a million Australians are now delaying trips to the doctor because of rising fees. And while bulk-billed visits are at a record high, so are out-of-pocket expenses.

Australia has a reputation across the world for its affordable and efficient health system, but a new report raises serious questions about that standing.

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare has found 1.3 million Australians are choosing not to go to the doctor because help is too expensive.
