a delegation from the Assyrian Universal Alliance-Australian Chapter, the Assyrian Australian National Federation (AANF) and some Assyrians from Australia, Sweden and USA visited Israel With a special invitation from Dr. Yaqoub Moaz, Chairperson, of the Committee for the Revival of the Aramaic Language in Israel, to attend a conference hosted by the Committee for the revival of the Aramaic Language and the Tikkun Movement highlighting the survival of the ancient language, and to build bridges between Assyrians in Israel and Diaspora Mr Hermiz Shaheen, secretary Assyrian Universal Alliance Australia and New Zealand chapter spoke to SBS and highlighted the experience of meeting Assyrian Jews who fled Northern Iraq after the establishment of the state of Israel. Mr Shaheen said that people they met have preserved the Assyrian language, culture and are proud of their heritage and origin.
