Assyrian ranked first among Iraqi players in the Qatar Speed Chess Championship

Nabeel Aziz an Assyrian represented Iraq in the Qatar International Speed Chess Championship that was held online under the slogan "We are one family”, on the occasion of the International Chess Day on July 20, 2020. He got advanced rank out of 2000 players.


Chess Player Nabeel said that he won first place between Iraqi players, and the third out of Arab world, and came in 55th rank in the world, in his first participation in this tournament.

He added that online play is not very different from playing face to face. This tournament used the Swiss system in 18 rounds.
He confirmed that he participated in many national championships and has reached the final stages, as well as international championships held by the Khanzad Chess Club in Erbil.
He also mentioned that he obtained a training certificate in the game and is currently working as a coach in the club confirmed and represents the club in tournaments.
