A team of Italian and Iraqi Kurdish archaeologists working in northern Iraq have uncovered ten stone reliefs that adorned a sophisticated canal system dug into bedrock
Our correspondent Naseem Sadiq from Dohuk tells the story of new findings of stone reliefs date back to King Sargon II. Such a discovery is rare and no such panels have been found in their original location since 1845 according to Daniele Morandi Bonacossi, an archaeologist at Italy’s University of Udine and leader of the expedition.
Naseem talks about details of the reliefs and their significance.
