Arriving to Australia only 4 years ago, Awkar Ruel, an Assyrian refugee from Iraq, was bullied and considered an outsider among his high school peers. However, his determination to succeed despite the odds led him to be nominated as School Captain. Now, after two years of studying Architecture at the University of Technology, Sydney, Awkar is preparing to pack his bags as one of five students selected for the prestigious Opera House Exchange Scholarship in Denmark.
