Youel Hawil's latest traces his time growing up in the Armenian camp of Gilani in Baghdad.

The third book published in Assyrian by Sydney-based writer, Youel Hawil, explores the vibrant tapestry of Gilani, a suburb in Baghdad where he was born. Entitled "The Chronicles of an Armenian of Gilani Camp", this latest instalment delves deep into the Assyrian and Armenian neighbourhood and the fabric of life, characters and community spanning from the mid-1920s to modern times. Hawil tells the stories of the people who shaped Gilani, offering readers a rich journey through its history.
