Australian citizenship

Valentine Aghajani on Zoom interview Source: SBS Assyrian

Migration agent and member of the Assyrian council of Victoria Valentine Aghajani spoke to SBS about how social distancing and the restriction on mass gathering resulted in cancellation of citizenship ceremonies around the country

In a video interview done through zoom, Mrs Aghajani said those who are waiting for their citizenship will miss out on the big ceremonies and their citizenship will be presented to them via video links.

She also talks about the people overseas that have been granted permanent visa under the community support program, have to wait until the Corona virus pandemic is over and boarders are open again, so they can make their journey to their new home Australia.

Mrs Aghajani took the opportunity of the ANZAC Day to urge Assyrian community to be involved and commemorate this Honorable day in Australia and New Zealand's calendar.
