New South Wales
NSW sets another daily record with 830 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19.
NSW registered also three more deaths - two men, one in his 60s and one in his 70s, who each had received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and a woman in her 80s who was not vaccinated and was a close contact. The three deaths bring the current outbreak death toll to 71.
There are currently 550 people in hospital being treated for COVID-19 with 94 people in intensive care.
Health Minister Brad Hazzard said NSW has registered “extraordinary” levels of vaccination in the past few days.
Victoria
Victoria has recorded 65 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19, out of which 55 are linked to current outbreaks and 10 are under investigation.
Only 12 cases were in isolation for their full infectious period.
Of the cases registered today at least 21 are linked to the outbreak in the regional town of Shepparton.
Victorians woke up this Sunday into a state-wide lockdown.
Victoria Police reported more than 200 arrests and six police officers injured during the anti-lockdown protest in Melbourne yesterday.
