New South Wales
New South Wales has registered a new record in locally acquired COVID-19 cases with 825 infections and three dead people - an unvaccinated man in his 90s, a fully vaccinated man in his 80s and a woman in her 90s, who had received one dose.
NSW Police have deployed 1,500 officers to ensure anti-lockdown protests do not occur this afternoon. Trains are skipping major Sydney train stations and taxis and rideshare operators are banned from the CBD.
Priority COVID-19 Pfizer vaccination appointments are available right now for anyone aged 16 to 39 living in local government areas of concern.
Victoria
Victoria has recorded 61 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases, 39 were in the community while infectious.
A significant number of cases have been detected in regional Victoria. Therefore, from 1pm today all regional Victoria has gone into lockdown.
The rules for regional areas will be the same as those in place for Greater Melbourne, except for the curfew conditions that will not apply to regional Victoria for now.
