Ahead of the Macquarie Dictionary Word of the Year announcement on 15 January 2018, SBS News takes a look at how language in Australia is changing. Australia is more culturally diverse than ever before. Nearly half of the population were either born overseas or have a parent born overseas, according to the latest census data. And as our diversity continues to evolve, so too does our language.
