Valentine Aghajani, from the Assyrian Council of Victoria, emphasised the day's importance, urging Assyrian organisations worldwide to join the commemoration.
The event's focal point is the screening of 'Journey of Eternity', a poignant movie by director, Frank Gilbert, which portrays the courageous stand of Assyrian martyrs who faced execution for preserving their identity under the former Iraqi regime.
