The central government in Baghdad and the provincial government in Erbil have taken a set of measures to limit the spread of Covid 19 in the country. The disease began to spread in Baghdad, Babil, Kirkuk, Basra, Maysan, Sulaymaniyah and Erbil.

Our correspondent Naseem Sadiq told SBS, the measures taken by the government include the closure of border crossings with Iran, as well as flights, the closure of schools and universities, until further notice.
Work has been suspended in government departments where people are crowded, such as the Passport issuance department, Churches and Mosques, according to the provincial government statement. Swimming pools and gym stores are also closed. All gatherings for condolences or celebrations in  halls have been banned.
Markets were asked to take sanitation measures to limit the spread of the virus.
Our correspondent also indicated that Mosul closed its crossings with other areas and kept the movement only for foodstuffs.
He concluded by saying that statements were issued to cancel the annual celebrations of the Assyrian Babylonian year for this year.
