The problems of minorities in Iraq vary between political, economic and social. Many seminars, studies and training workshops have been held on the subject of minorities, but there is no application in reality.

Dr. Firas Georgis , professor at the College of Political Science at Baghdad University, said he will participate in a seminar entitled “Political Empowerment for Iraqi Minorities after 2003”, which will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020. Organized by Nineveh Peace Forum in partnership with the Nineveh Center for Minority Rights through the Zoom application.

Dr. Georgis stressed that the situation of minorities is very bad, especially our people, who suffer from major internal and external problems. He added that one of the problems is that our people lack a unified leadership which we do not see movement on the ground. The other thing is that the elite do not move to work for the common good. We have a quota system that was supposed to be a solution, but that has become the problem and its seats have been taken away by the dominant big parties.
