Few weeks after the Mayor of Duhok claimed that the city is coronavirus free, there was celebrations and joy. But recently many new cases started appearing and now more than 500 new cases been recorded.

Our correspondent from the city of Dohul, Naseem Sadiq, reveals the events that led to the second wave of COVID-19 infection.

He says that About twenty military personals who live in Dohuk but work in posts in different provinces and also in Baghdad, returned to Dohuk for the EID holiday ( end of Ramadan feast). At first, they were refused entry without going through quarantine. They argued that they have two weeks holiday and they can't spend it in a quarantine in a hotel that they have to pay for it.

They suggested to be tested and if positive, they will return to their posts. Initial tests showed they were negative. They were allowed to enter the city.

The families celebrating their return and the Eid featival, organised a huge feast inviting many people. This celebration caused the infection and the spread of the diseas.
