The Syriac study Directorate was without a director for two years, and Mr. Muayad Shleemon was appointed to the position recently. Our correspondent, Naseem Sadiq, met with him in Dohuk to inform us about his plans and the problems that he will work on solving.

Muayad said that he appreciates all the efforts made by his predecessors in the position and stressed that he will add to their efforts and work to solve some of the problems that the Directorate suffers from, in terms of the lack of teachers and the lack of textbooks, as well as the transportation of students and teachers to and from schools.

Regarding the situation with the spread of the global pandemic, Covid-19, he said that the ministry is studying the developing of plans to overcome the problems arising from this situation, and perhaps one of them is moving to distance education, but it is believed that students will face many problems if this continues.

Mr. Muayad added that for 17 years he has been working in this field and had hoped that typographical errors in the curricula would be corrected, the problem of sending temporary lecturers and finding a permanent teaching staff.

Muayad asserted that he is an artist, so he feels the need to pay attention to art education lessons and artistic activities in schools because they are an effective way to push students to learn their lessons better.
