The coordinator of the Assyrian Language at Assyrian Australian Association, Mr. Namrood Slewa, said that the culture of our people prompted intellectuals to publish the first Assyrian newspaper in Urmi 1849 before many neighboring communities in the region. Wherever Assyrian intellectuals emigrated, they issued newspapers and magazines, he said. He added, to celebrate Press Day, the Assyrian Australian Association will organize an evening on the third of November 2019 in Sydney.
