James Younan, who lives in Arizona, told SBS Assyrian that his cousin, Wilson Younan had been battling cancer for over a year.
James went into detail about how Younan's health condition deteriorated during his last couple of days.
"Wilson kept suffering from significant low blood pressure," James said, which subsequently affected his cancer treatment.
Although doctors tried changing the medication for the issue was having, his heart could not handle the strength of such medication for a constant amount of time, James confirmed.
When asked about the funeral service of the well-respected journalist, James said the Assyrian Church of the East in Australia has communicated with him and the rest of the family as they will organise the proper body transfer procedures from the US.
James Younan ended the interview by stating that he wished and asked that people not only remember his cousin as a memory but to also educate the next generation to follow him as an example and role model.
