SBS asked Mr Roland Bidzhamov, who is the world affairs correspondent for SBS Assyrian about his feedback on Valentine Aghajani's performance in these conferences.
Mr Bidzhamov studied instant translation and conference interpreting in the former Soviet Union and he worked in this field for many years. He has been engaged in interpreting to former Soviet Union foreign Minister and later the President of Georgia Edward Shevardnadze, and has been engaged interpreting and translating in many international events and conferences.
He speaks Assyrian, Arabic, Russian, Georgian and English and does translation and interpreting in most of these languages.
Mr Bidzhamov says for someone to be an instant or simultaneous interpreter, he or she must have certain skills of communication.
Mr Bidzhamov says "Valentine's capabilities in what she is doing in these conferences is very impressive. She has the ability to quickly find easy words to continue with sentences that she is interpreting and she is flawless and even very fast considering the many question put to the officials by the journalist during the forty to fifty minutes of the press conference".
" There are some people who might think that Ms Aghajani is skipping words or sentences, but they don't realise the amount of pressure put upon the interpreters while doing their job", Mr Bidzhamov remarks
Finally, he gives some tips to people who are interested to take this field and be professional conference interpreters,
