Hermiz Shahen, President of the Assyrian National Council-Australia, spoke with SBS Assyrian about the final preparations for Sydney’s largest Assyrian community event, the Assyrian New Year 2025 (6775). He highlighted that the celebration attracts over 15,000 Assyrians from across Sydney, bringing together a vibrant festival of history, culture, and cuisine, along with the presence of numerous dignitaries and representatives from federal, state, and local governments.
