The Syriac Writer’s Union issued a TOME (huge book) that included Syriac poetry published from the nineteenth century to today. the idea started in November 2013, and the project was announced in the media. Interested parties and poets were contacted to provide the Union with the poems of Syriac poets since the nineteenth century and from all countries of the world.
The President of the Union, Mr. Rawand Pauls Baythoon, said that the Union administration had considered the literary needs of our library and saw that other nations have books in the form of encyclopedias containing a certain literary genre, for the purpose of archiving and to facilitate return to it by researchers and scholars.
Mr. Baythoon stressed that there were difficulties in determining the beginning and the Union saw that there are many books covering Syriac poetry from the second to the nineteenth century, so the opinion settled to start from the nineteenth century to the present day.
