The life and legacy of Daryawish Zkharya, Australia's oldest Assyrian

Mr Zkharya was one of more than 50,000 Assyrian refugees housed in the Baqubah Camp established in 1918.

At 103, Daryawish Zkharya is Australia's oldest living Assyrian. Born in 1920 in a British refugee camp in Baqubah, Iraq, SBS Assyrian has chronicled his remarkable journey over a century in a series of episodes. In this episode, he talks about his birth, life in the camp and moving on to start his life.
