Father Adam Shimon Jamani, for many years been following, communicating and always showing interest in the Assyrian program on SBS radio.

Father Adam was ordained a deacon in Iraq on March 18, 1984, then as priest on May 31, 1987, to be appointed in the Jambur Complex in the Alqosh district in northern Iraq.

He said that he developed his linguistic capabilities to communicate with people during his service and to be understood clearer. Therefore, he read a lot of books in Aramaic language. He also worked in simplifying books from the classical Aramaic language to “Sureth” or the modern common language.

Fr.Adam Jamani added that the translation should be accurate and not according to the mood of the translator or the lack of understanding of the original text.

He said SBS Assyrian program is serving our language very well, and he hopes that many people should listen to it, because it uses our language despite the different names of our nation, and according to the common belief, The “Sureth” is the standard designation.

He stressed that every person uses vocabulary learned from a young age but, can present concepts more clearly by what he or she learned in their life.

He finished saying:” Our language is very rich, but learning opportunities are scarce, and because we do not use our language’s vocabulary, many use extraneous ones”.
