The Assyrian Martyr's Monument is considered the best place for the Assyrian community to commemorate their martyrs.
Assyrian National Council President, Hermiz Shahen, spoke to SBS Assyrian about preparations for Assyrian Martyr's Day that will be held at the Assyrian Martyr’s Monument at Wetherill Park on Sunday, 7 August from noon.
He said this monument had a significant meaning to all Assyrians because it symbolises the Assyrian persecution and killings they have suffered throughout the centuries.
