ICC PALESTINIAN
The International Criminal Court [[ICC]] has ruled that it has jurisdiction to investigate suspected war crimes in the Palestinian territories.
Palestinians are calling the move a victory while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has denounced the I-C-C as a political body.
VIRUS VENTILATION
Victoria is reviewing the ventilation systems at its quarantine hotels to try to stop COVID-19 from leaking into the community.
Hotel quarantine workers will now be required to wear face shields and surgical masks.
The shields are designed to stop infections occurring through the eyes through airborne transmission.
Emergency Services Minister Lisa Neville says specialist workers are being employed to review the ventilation systems.
VIRUS VICTORIA
Victoria's Chief Health Officer is warning there's still a risk posed to the community after a hotel quarantine worker got infected.
The state has gone another day without any new cases but Professor Brett Sutton says there's still a risk of new cases.
VIRUS HOTEL QUARANTINE
The Labor Party is continuing to call for quarantine facilities to be set up away from Australia's big cities.
The Federal Government is considering a proposal from Queensland to set up a quarantine facility in the regional city of Toowoomba, 125 kilometres west of Brisbane.
Opposition leader Anthony Albanese says the federal government must play a greater role and have quarantine occur away from the big population centres.
VIRUS NSW
For the 20th straight day, no new locally acquired coronavirus cases have been recorded in New South Wales.
Two COVID-19 cases have been detected in hotel quarantine.
Dr Christine Selvey from New South Wales Health says the state's hotel quarantine measures are being strengthened.
VIRUS QLD
Queensland has recorded no new locally transmitted cases of the coronavirus.
One case has been reported in hotel quarantine.
Health authorities say in the past 24 hours over 7,660 [[7,663]] tests have been conducted.
VIRUS WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Western Australia has gone another day without any new cases of COVID-19.
The state has ended is five day lockdown which was called after a hotel quarantine worker became infected.
WA BUSHFIRES
More than 200 firefighters have brought the bushfire in the Perth Hills under control with the fire downgraded from an emergency to a watch and act.
The fire destroyed at least 86 homes and burned almost 11 000 hectares.
RUSSIA NALVANY
The European Union has condemned Russia for expelling three diplomats for joining a protest in support of jailed opposition activist Alexei Nalvany.
Russia's foreign ministry says the three diplomats from Germany, Sweden and Poland took part in what it called "illegal demonstrations" on the 23rd of January.
The expulsions were announced just a few hours after EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell met Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow.
