Iraqi elections will be held in October this year. Many Assyrian voters are reluctant to vote because they see it as a useless process.

SBS Assyrian correspondent from Duhok-Kurdistan region, Naseem Sadiq, did this interview with political activist Evan Goreal Jani who said to SBS "Assyrians should not hesitate to go to the polls and cast their vote. Their absence means a loss to their rights".

He says that this is their right and by not voting, they are allowing major political parties to use the votes to help their own candidates win.

More details in this interview.
