The Assyrian movie "Journey of Eternity" which is directed by Frank Gilbert had been chosen as a finalist with another Iraqi movie to represent Iraq in the Oscars. The committee overseeing this process had recently selected the other movie (Haifa Street) in favour of Journey of Eternity.

In response to the committee's decision, Mr. Frank published a 32 minutes live video on his personal account on Facebook to address this matter.

Mr. Frank believes that the decision was not fair as the committee did not clearly outline the criteria for the successful movie.

Mr. Frank also added that the committee members were not fit to judge and compare between movies.

The Assyrian director also told our program that the Ministry of Culture has not published anything official or public yet regarding this matter, which gives him hope that the decision of the committee can be overturned and a new committee with new, clear and transparent criteria comes into place.

Regardless of the outcome, Mr. Frank asserted that he will continue to promote his movie and the Assyrian cause through other known international film festivals.
