Metropolitan Melbourne's lockdown rules state residents must shop and exercise within five kilometres of their home but they can travel outside that radius if shops are not close by.
With only five reasons to leave home, including to access a COVID-19 vaccine, movement has become very limited to suppress the spread of the virus.
People can venture beyond the five-kilometre limit for a vaccine shot but otherwise, the rules remain strict and more extensive travel will be off-limits until at least 11.59pm on 2 September at this stage.
