Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov accepted the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister and Labour Minister Ivaylo Kalfin.
The resignation of the deputy prime minister in charge of demographic and social policy came just hours after Kalfins left-wing Alternative for Bulgarian Revival (ABV) party said it was withdrawing its support for Borisov's government.
The ruling party Citizens for a European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) and the Reformist Bloc, holding 106 seats among themselves, rely on support in Parliament from the Patriotic Front, a coalition of nationalist parties, which controls 18 seats but has no cabinet minister.
Last month, Kalfin made clear that ABV would leave the government if changes to the Electoral Code were adopted in violation of an agreement between GERB and ABV that became the basis for the formation of the coalition cabinet in November 2014.
