Yet another election loss for BSP - this time in the local elections. This opened old and created new conflicts within the party ranks.
Bulgarian Socialist Party lost elections twice this year alone - in the European elections (for the EU Parliament) in May and in the local elections in October.
Like any internal tension, the rifts within BSP have a detrimental effect on its political health.
However, the question, “Who will prevail in the contest to lead BSP into the future?”, does not have much relevance as it is increasingly clear that the Socialists are not and cannot be a real alternative to the ruling party GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria), despite the grave problems discrediting to some degree the current government.
