Curiosities and oddities from Australia and around the world selected by Dr Maria Staykova

We have heard of the supercontinents Pangea and Gondwana when the present continents were linked together as one land mass.

The supercontinent Pangea broke into pieces 175 million years ago, these pieces moved away from each other and formed the current 7 continents.

At that time, the earth's crust was too thin, there was lava under it, and the movement of huge land masses was easier than it is now.

But, before the supercontinent Pangea, there were other supercontinents. One of them was NUNA or Columbia, which existed 2 thousand million years ago.
