This year, the Bulgarian program on SBS Radio celebrates its 40th birthday and on this occasion we broadcast a flashback interviews.
In 2009, a Bulgarian man living in Melbourne received special congratulations from the Prime Minister of Victoria, the Prime Minister of Australia, the Governor General and even Queen Elizabeth II.
The name of this otherwise ordinary Bulgarian is Gancho Gogev.
Unfortunately, we could not find out if Gancho was still in good health, but when I talked to him in 2009, he was 90 years old with a wonderful spirit and perfect Bulgarian language, although he had left Bulgaria only 13 years old.
